i have an evinrude/johnson 1987 6 hp e6rcob motor . i was on the lake today and the motor did fine for 5-6 hours of off and on use. then all of a sudden it bogs down and dies. when i tried to crank it it would idle rough and when i give it gas it would bog and die. water is coming out of it like normal , no overheating . only thing i could do was turn the middle dial to the highest setting and pull the knob out on the left. to keep it running i had to push the knob in and out til i hit the sweet spot so it wouldnt die. when i got home i took the lid off and looked at he gas line on the left side and it had a little black piece of something in it (appeared to be plastic) . any ideas on where to start or what this may be caused by? thanks kendall

sounds a bit like ethanol is breaking down your fuel lines .

maybe you should start with the top secret file at the top of the forum you could also try www.leeroysrambelings.com, and maybe a few pics of the fuel lines would help, other than that just change the fuel pipes like for like ony be sure they are ethanol freindly, and a carb rebuild may be a good idea
