Motor vibrates really bad and tries shutting off when kicked into gear

Why does my Nissan 25hp vibrate really bad when kicked into gear, almost as if it's trying to cut out. It's never done this in the past and as soon as I speed up it stops. It just does it as soon as it's kicked in gear.

The idle could be set too low. The carb could have some varnishing in the low-speed circuits. There could be fishing line wrapped around the prop shaft.

It idles fine in neutral! If that makes a difference. It's just when kicked in gear..

You could have already worn out plastic bushings on steering shaft due to use and/or using that OB with too loose stearing load. Move middle OB back and forth and check if with too much side play on steering shaft. If don't plan changing them as it's a time demanding job, adjust swivel bracket's steering load to a point than when tiller grip ir released boat will follow a straight water course. Steering shaft must be well internally greased, will need a grease gun for that job.
