I have a 1972 penn yann with a 1971 ford 351w in it currently. I am looking to replace it and i have found that the chevy 350 is cheaper and I was curious if they are the same size as far as it mounting and fitting in the boat and what are the differences between the two motors. I also found a OMC STRINGER, COBRA 5.0 L (V8) for sale and i was wondering the same about this motor. I would really appreciate any knowledge on this motors. thanks

Re: motor swap

Ayuh,... Your question is pretty vague, as you don't state what the driveline is, other than the motor...
1st off, No, a Chevy don't fit where a Ford used to live...
None of the holes line up...

As for the OMC,... Stringer, 'n Cobra are 2 Very different drives, 'n a 5.0l Could be a Ford, Or a Chevy...

Re: motor swap

why are you replacing? the 351w is a very durable engine. is a rebuild out of the question? imo by the time you swap to chevy you'll spend more than just replaced the ford.
