i have an 85 XP 150. If I pump the primer bulb up, the boat will jump up on plane but fade fast. I rebuilt the bro pump, but the issue remains. Amy ideas?

If the engine runs normally when you constantly pump the fuel primer bulb (acting as a manual fuel pump), that indicates that the engine's fuel pump is not functioning properly. Double check your VRO rebuilding project.

I think the old pump internals may have been just fine. Could the pulse hose be a possible problem?

The pump operates with positive pressure pulses.-----There may be issues with that.------But maybe try running with a portable tank and hose.----There might be issues with your fuel system on the boat.

If you can blow through it in either direction... No... unless you've got a blown piston or a bad leaking leaf valve on the reed plate that would affect the pulse/pressure power.

Was just going to check tube and pulse limiter to make sure there wasn’t some sort of restriction there. Compression is healthy on all cylinders, and it has all new boyesen reeds. Remote tank was going to be my next move. I may be tracking down a leak somewhere between my fuel filler tubes/vents and fuel selector. All hoses from selector to carbs are new.

FYI - I rebuilt my VRO pump and didn't get the return spring seated correctly on the air side of the pump and it caused the same issue. Things were great as long as you were pumping the ball! You may have got yours correct but I thought I did too and I consider myself pretty mechanical. Just thought I'd check.
