I just purchased a 1990 70HP Evinrude motor and having an issue with it. It starts right up and runs fine at low RPM's but will shut off and give a constant warning/alarm tone when at higher RPM's (>3000 RPM). I believe the constant alarm tone is fuel related. When this happens, I shut the motor off, turn the power off, then turn the power back on and it fires right back up and runs fine again. So far I have changed the fuel line from the tank to the motor, the primer bulb, and the fuel filter. Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks!

Your owner's manual will indicate that a constant horn is an overheat warning-not fuel. Possible the engine is getting so hot that you are getting an overheat lockup.
