Thanks for the help so far. I have replaced a very damaged ignition switch, the throttle and shift cable has been replaced. I replaced the rectifier, rebuilt the carbs and fuel pump, bought a new 12 gal tank and new lines and bulb, the power pack was changed, one coil is new. The compression was 150 on each cylinder. I have a 1976 55hp Johnson. It will not go higher then 3200 @ WOT and when it idles at times it sounds like it gets an intermittent burst of power. It does however start right up and idles @ 1000 rpms when I reduce that it just sputters and dies. Any suggestions, comments , remarks would be appreciated. thanks.
