Motor

I was searching the web and stumbled on the price of this motor. Its the Evinrude version of my motor. Same year (1988), recoil start, thru hub exhaust, tiller control, and the same hp (25). Last summer I bought my boat, trailer and motor for $1,650. So I posted this to show hoe people need to look around for prices a little before hastily making a purchase.

And its not like my boat is a junker either....its super clean, the trailer is galvanized, and the motor is in mint condition.
Yah, he's a dealer, and has a good reputation, so he commands top prices for his outboards.

Still, this just goes to show you that a complete package of boat motor and trailer can sometimes be a great deal, if the outboard is in good shape.

A guy I know buys ugly boats as packages, if they have good motors. He junks the boat, cleans up the outboards, paints the trailers, and sells them separately. He makes money every time.

He doesn't even look at the boat...but gives the outboard and trailer a very close look. Does a few repairs, if necessary, and cleans up.

Something about a really ugly boat that brings the price of the whole package down.

I have seen this guys stuff before, he seems to always have a decent motor or two on there......if ya can build a reputation it looks like a money maker.

That seller lives about 30 miles from me.
He always gets top dollar for his stuff.
And it is almost always in great condition.
Been watching his auctions for a few years.
He's got an awsome rating for someone that sells old mechanical items, sight unseen. He has sold a lot more than his rating number.

He also splits up the boat motor and trailer and sells them all separately. And he sells wood shop tools, backhoes, skidsteers, etc.

I believe he gets most of his boats from dealers in northern WI, that don't want the older trade-ins sitting on the lot.

I've talked to him on the phone. Has anyone here ever dealt with him?
