Goodday: I am looking for some type of touch-up paint in (early Johnson green) for a 1953 Johnson Seahorse 5HP that was my Dad's.
The paint is scraped off in a few places and as I'm am restoring it, I like to touch it up if I can.And I'm also looking for a low speed needle jet for the same. Thanks. ...Gary (PLMBR)

Re: Motor Painting

A good Canadian resource for older engine paint:
http://www.nymarine.ca/
Sand any bare spots to shiney metal, and then etch the metal with a 50/50 mix of vinager and water. Prime with zinc chromate (I couldn't find this locally) or zinc phosphate primer (available from MMOS, just about any outboard dealer). Then paint.
The original paint is excellent, so wherever you're painting over it simply clean it with acetone, sand the gloss out of it, and clean it again. Then paint over.

Try tcoutboards.com (States) for the needle valve. You might give Veinotte's Gone Fishing in Bridgewater (902-543-1460). They may have what you need as they have a good sized bone yard. Good to deal with too.
