Motor Mounted Ski Tow

I was looking around on another forum and here, and have seen some pictures of I/O boats that have a bracket that looks like it would go from the rear bellhousing bolts to the middle of the Intake Manifold..

Kind of a triangular bracket with a tab on the top to attach a ski line.

I just got an 82 Eliminator I/O 21' with a SBC 350 and a Volvo Penta 270 outdrive.. No place other than the transom hooks and one of those devices to float behind the prop.

Are the motor Mounted Ski Tow hooks heavy duty enough to pull tubes as well as skiiers?

Just looking ahead for this summer.. I know the line that connects to the transom is about $15 or so, and have seen plenty of those types of connections on boats with no apparent transom damage, but never really looked into the motor mounted type you see on a lot of jet boats..

Any thoughts?

Re: Motor Mounted Ski Tow

Steve, I have a 78 haskell jet boat with a amc motor. I have the motor mounted tow bracket on my boat. I have pulled two large tubes with two adults on each tube and never had any problems with mine. I have seen some of these brackets for small block chevys on some of the auction sites. I looked in the garage tonight and i have one for a bbc but not a small block. the farther forward you can tow from the better. good luck finding one.

Thanks gypsysoul! I'll keep my eyes open for one and see what I can come up with!
