Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... That clear plastic fuel filter is illegal, as it's a major fire hazard,...

The knockin' is pretty hard to hear,...
Probably oughta do a compression test to see if ya got a low cylinder,....

Could be in the engine but also u-joints or the exhaust flappers-- I sometimes take a long screwdriver & hold it to my ear for a poor mans stethoscope to find noise sources. U joints tend to make more noise when the out-drive is up and or turned to one side.

+1 on that fuel filter and the outboard hose is another no no .
