i have a 9.9 evinrude 1977 model. and it will fire and run for a second then quit. i don't see any water from the water pump shooting out any water. it does not sputter or anything. if you have any ideas please let me know. Thanks
Hey Waylon,<br />An internal combusion engine must have three things working in order to operate. Fuel/Air mixture, compression, and spark. If it fires you must have spark. You need to run a compression check & then check your fuel delivery system (everything from the fuel tank through the carb). As far as the water goes.....let's get it to start first. <br />Backlash
