motor keeps stalling

I have an 80 horse merc and im having a hard time getting it to run right. It starts fine but i have to let it idle for 10 min before i can attempt to shift it and go or itll die or run very sluggish. any comments on what the problem might be would be great.

AFTER YOU LET IT IDLE DOES THE MOTOR RUN FINE AFTER THAT OR IS IT STILL NOT PERFORMING AT TOP PERFORMANCE.

after the 10 min period and it has warmed up then it runs like a charm but until then it dogs horrible and seems like it overloads.

Thermostat stuck open -- failing to warm up quickly.

i tried this and it didnt help do you have any more ideas
