It is a 1966. Stern brackets are missing, along with all the bits and pieces associated with them AND, I believe they still had the separate brackets that bolt to the transom in '66.

Do you have the electrical harness and remote control? That stuff can add up to more than the whole motor is worth.

I still have the remote control and the wiring harness.. it is in a old smith craft aluminum boat. So 1966 How can I find the model number and such to order parts? No other numbers anywhere other than that engine plug..

I have a lot of those parts kicking around still.-----If you could come over with your motor we could see what you need.----But you might be too far away.----Recycling bin is my best / quickest option I think.-----More pictures and your location.

Taking your word for it that it actually is a 100hp. Should have a 4-bbl carburetor is it is.

So here are some more pictures... This motor sat on the boat by my dad's and someone stole the Hood and fuel pump etc off of it.. The motor had run in a barrel prior to the thievery.. If I can get it put back together it would be great for fishing..
I Live in New Mexico so I am sure I am far away from most folks.. Anyway if it isn't really a 100 I would love to know.. I only have the plug identifier.

Yep, that's a 4-bbl carburetor (100hp). And those are the brackets that bolt to the transom. But you still are missing the goodies between those brackets and the rest of the motor.

BTW, don't take that carburetor apart unless you absolutely must do so. A repair kit is about $240.00. And a special tool is required to adjust the floats levels.

Great sound advice F_R I will leave the carbs alone.. I want to get a transom mount so I can get it in a barrel and put a fuel pump on her and see if she'll run.. I want to test compression to make sure I am not wasting time.. Sort of sentimental though..

Post a picture of the lower unit. !----Could be the 1965 model 90 HP version.----The 66 had the same big gearcase housing as the stern drive machinery.

Fastbullet That is a cool looking mailbox that guy made out of a motor.. In the end it may be that it becomes one but, like I said they had it running in a barrel 3 years ago so if I cleaned things up a little it just may run like a champ.. Who knows I will give it a try if I can find the parts.

Yep, that's consistent with a 100hp. Tough enough for a V-8 I/O

It was certainly an improvement compared to the smaller gearcase used on the earlier 90hp, which continued to be used on the smaller V4s thru 1968. Those units used props with a smaller diameter than the Big Twin/Lark/Javelin/Sea Horse/Super Sea Horse 25, 30, 35, and 40 hp models of the 50s, 60s, and 70s
