1995 5.8 Litre EFI Ford Cobra. The motor just died this morning after running perfectly the day before. It's as if the throttle was pulled back immediately and hesitates past 3500 rpm's. Every time I throttle up she hangs and then coughs at anything past 3500 rpm's.Fuel pump ? I have changed the plugs, rotor, fuel/water seperator. I had to run all the way to the marina at 3500 rpm's and could not get on plane without the engine losing power. It ran steady at 3500 but wont go past. Even a gentle nudge on throttle caused her to hesitate. Any ideas ?

Possibly the High-Speed Circuit of the carb.. Or the timing isn't Advancing(distributer sticking?)

Sounds similar to my problem (see '87 OMC 5.7 stalls over 3000 rpm ). I've checked fuel delivery and exhaust so far. Still have yet to test it in the water.

Well, it was the anti syphon valve. After 8 years the spring gets tired and slams shut thereby reducing fuel flow.

By anti siphon valve, are you refering to the check valve on the tank, or something downline from there?

...check valve on the tank...simple $ 5.00 part that caused havoc with the engine. Changed it, runs like a top
