I can hook the motor to the water hose to clean if from grit and the motor runs fine hooked to it. when i put it on the lake it doesn't want to run. it takes it awhile to take off and run like it should, if it does take off. what could cause this problem?

i thought it was the plugs. i changed them and crossthreaded one. is there a way i can fix this without it costing me a lot of money?

------------------
the mailman

auto parts stores sell heli coils to repair your head threads just tell them what you are trying to do and even bring in a good plug they should be able to hook you up.

------------------
no replacement for displacement!

Hey Mailman;
An outboard will act totally different under load than from muffs.
My first step would to check compression and from there fuel pressure.
It always helps to post the type of beast you are dealing with, such as yr/make/hp.
Let everyone know how things check out.
