1969 55 hp hydroelectric shift Johnson. Esl69A

Bought this motor in November. Third time out on lake washington this year and after running fine all day it quit suddenly while at half throttle on they way back to the launch. It just cut out without any warning. The engine turns over but will not restart. The flywheel felt very hot but the engine block by the spark plugs was not. Does this sound like an electrical problem? Also new powerpack was just put on about a year ago. My question is where do I start looking and in what order should I go about it? I've already changed the impeller, i guess now its time for a new lesson.

Thanks for any help you can give.
The fish are biting and I'm stuck on dry land!

Howdy, SMB.

Click on "search" at the top of the page and enter "wont start". If you don't get enough advice there, change to display "last two years".

After you have read some troubleshooting advice, come back with more info and we'll try to help.

Good luck. :)
