I am trying to remove the bracket that holds my outboard motor = 1977 evinrude 70HP = with a manual lift. I took the bolts off on the one side because it looks like it comes in two pieces. Looking at the motor I am trying to remove the left side to work on it. Is there a nut that comes off on that side or do I loosen the two nuts on the right side and slide it through? Here are some pictures of what I have. I would appreciate any help you can give me on this. Go to my webpage to view the 3 images of the motor. Jim<br /> http://geocities.com/laker_jim1/

Re: Motor bracket removal

I can't bring the pictures up. However you should have two upper and two lower bolts. Remove and the motor lifts off. Be sure to use some 3M 5200 around the bolt holes when reinstalling.
