motor bounces when trimming down

Last week I posted that when I trim the motor down that the motor bounces until it hits the second stage then it stops bouncing. trimming up is not issue and works smooth. Someone suggested I check the pivot tube which I just did. It has two grease fittings and appears the issue may be from no grease in some time. I have tried to grease both fittings but cannot get a grease gun fitting on them due to the closeness of the power steering device. Any suggestions on how I can get a grease gun on these fittings? I'm thinking that when the power steering was put on there should have been 90 degree grease fittings installed.

And, right in the middle of this it appears the trim / tilt motor went out. I have put 12v and a ground directly to the motor but nothing. This is a two wire (blue and green wire) square motor that is controlled by two relays

Re: motor bounces when trimming down

90 degree fittings do help and they should have been put in by the installer.

The tilt down bouncing is due to not enough drag on the system. You can prove this by pulling upwards on the aft part of the anti-ventilation plate as it tilts down. The bouncing will stop instantly.

Tighten the tilt tube nut, about 1/6 turn at a time to tighten things up and add a bit of drag to the pivot point.

Yes when I pulled up on the motor while trimming down the issue goes away.

Now to locate the tilt tube nut
