Gents, I was poking around in my "new to me" 1980 70hp, using a boroscope.
Of course the cheap Amazon scope fell apart while I was doing this, thankfully it fell apart in my hand after I was done and not INSIDE the piston chamber.
Anyhow I noticed the pistons have 030 engraved on them. Should I assume that means this engine has been bored out/rebuilt ?
The previous owner doesn't know, he's a friend of mine. He bought it from the original owner about 2 years ago and seems to have asked the owner much of nothing about the boats history. I definitely know this isn't the original engine since the engine is 7 years older.
Right now the only problem the thing is giving me is a trace of wet fuel creep around the lower carb. Pistons have nearly no carbon, walls look ok, idles great, acceleration is great.
I tried to upload pics of the pistons but the app I was using on this usb scope stored the files somedamnedwhere I cant find them.
