I have a 1972 25hp Evinrude and am a new boat owner. The mechanism is missing that locks the motor in tilted position. Is there anything I can use to tilt the motor for trailering or will I need to order the missing parts.

Re: motor and transom ?

Geo,
Simple question. Simple solution. Stop at any West Marine, Boat U.S. or other marine retail store and pick up a Motor Toater. It is an aluminum arm that will hook to the back of your trailer and extend up to support your motor in the up position. They are a good idea to use even if you do fix your lock. They are adjustabe for length, and come in several variations to suit your particular needs. The best part is they are pretty cheap as far as marine items go. I have three boats, all with outboards, two with power trim and tilt, and I have a Motor Toater for each of them. It supports the motor down by the prop and keeps the lower unit weight from bouncing and straining the motors locking system. If your gonna trailer, you gotta have one.

Ted Christopher
A.K.A Sea Hawk
New Castle, DE
