Motor and PT&T identification help!

Hi there!

I've recently bought this boat with a mid 80s (?) Johnson 50hp VRO motor. I've been told that this Power Trim unit is off an older model, however I'm having issues tracking down exact details. From what I can find it looks like the PT&T is as used on a 1975 model but not 100% sure. I have attached photos of all the identifying numbers I can find on the powerhead in hope that one of them can help out with ID.

Noticed hydraulic fluid (I think it's ATF) leaking from the motor half of the pump, and upon disassembly noted that the top half was full of strawberry milkshake (AFT + Water). This leads me to believe that the thrust washer has failed, allowing hydraulic fluid (or ATF) to escape past the shaft on the rotor.

Any assistance in locating parts (I am in Australia) would be much appreciated, or at least locating the exact part number I'm looking for! It's proving quite frustrating but I'm not willing to give up quite yet on this old girl as she runs like a champ and this is the only thing setting her back!

TIA

Best I can do is tell you that's an 80's motor....now is this yours or the other one? If we can see both maybe we can identify compatibility.

Pictures under the hood would help identify as well.

No twin cylinders and crush pads. I'm staying with tilt only.

Maybe others will confirm and I will have learned a new thing.

This unit has twin cylinders driven by the single motor. Definitely works as a trim!

I have attached a few more pics with the cowl removed to this post.

Well I'm unfamiliar with those then.... I didn't see the second cylinder in the original picture.

Wonder how that works...must be tough on the cylinders.

Anyhow I looked at 1975 and I couldn't find one in the parts list. 1980, I did and it's just like yours. Good chance yours is original or in the years that it was the same.

One other thing, is it just dirty or did it overheat?

????----The decals make it an 86 model here.-----But could be newer than what motor actually is.-------And it sure is a trim / tilt unit !!----Motor appears to have had a cosmetic touch-up with paint.----Do yourself a favor and post actual compression values.----If good then install a new water pump impeller.

Impeller was done the week before I picked the boat up with receipt so no worries on that. Not sure of actual compression numbers but motor starts easily and sounds very healthy.

Do you have a link to the parts list you referred to above?
