You could possibly extend the shaft of the motor. Is it currently a 15" (short) shaft? Another option is a bracket on the transom to allow the motor some adjustability.

notching you transom might weaken it, but that would be up to you. How high is is above the bottom of the transom. If not too high, a 4 blade prop may solve the prob. Good Luck

I CALLED WHERE I BOUGHT THE BOAT AND THEY TOLD ME I COULD NOTCH THE TRANSOM TO 1 FIRST BRACE. WHICH WOULD BRING ME TO WITHIN A 1/2 INCH OF THE BOTTOM OF MY BOAT. DO YOU THINK THAT WILL DO IT????

WOW, notching the transom could lead to alot of work, also mya be an issue when backing down or extreme following seas. I would think a mnaul jack plate would be far more cost effective, Would also have benefit of fine tuning the height. Andother plus is not messing with the structural integrity of the transom.
Manual jackplates are not that expensive, compared to time to cut, CORRECTLY, reglasing and redrilling mounting holes.

Best of luck whichever you decide!

MM

Nick -- you've got the same question running in at least 3 different posts. The difference in shaft lengths is in the mid section, not the lower unit. Get the extinsion kit and go have fun boating! Don't notch the transom (for ALL the reasons stated). In / out adjustments have nothing to do with the X dimension (up / down).

Good luck!
