Spare tire mount. No need to try to find space for a trailer spare in the bed of the truck or on the floor of the boat.

Interesting. Did you, or anyone here, consider the Snapper automatic boat latch & release?

We have to go deep and the Snapper seems like it would be awesome.

Power winch. No question. But around here boaters winch on, not drive on.

Best was the spare tire and holder having had several flats....worst was that spare tire and holder when the shotty weld broke and the whole unit totaled my trailer on the highway.

We have to go deep and the Snapper seems like it would be awesome.

Would really love to see him powerload that thing at my ramp. There wouldn't be a prop or lower unit left on it. Unless of course he's able to do that in about 18" of water!

We get deep enough that we only have a little bit of cranking left (boat's way too heavy for me to crank on). Still, I think if I had a Snapper I could coast in and get the latch to engage.

I hate watching older folks loading their similar size cruisers and standing waist deep in the water. This seems like the best solution - I'm surprised it's not everywhere.

This would be #2 on my list. A little silicone spray makes a huge difference.

I bet he's smart enough to not be loading that boat in only 18" of water. There are some places that can handle boats larger than big jons ... :lol:

I added a winch to my pickup bed. My back wasn't going to stand hand-cranking a 5500 lb boat onto the trailer for very long, and I operate solo a lot. I have a remote control for the winch, so loading is a breeze. Also added a step to the front trailer post so I can easily climb on or off the bow at the ramp.

It's definitely homemade. We welded a receiver tube to the 5th wheel frame (you can see the pin lock in the pic). The opposite side has plates that lock the battery in when it's installed. The winch is welded to an old hitch shank. To remove I just unlock the pin and pull it out (I have quick disconnects for the battery). It's low enough I can use my fifth wheel without removing it, if I'm careful when backing under the fiver.
