most is 2000 rpm in forward but can do 5000 in reverse

looked around a little but could not find anything just like this maybe im blind. But anyways the boat is a 1990 bayliner w/ 90hp <br />L-drive, boat was running good but now when I put in forward wideopen the most i get is 2000rpm at about 5mph in reverse I get rpm as high as it goes and faster then forward just wondering if any one might know the something about this

The problem could be lying within your control box, or cables. Disconnect your throttle cables from the power head. have your buddy watch the 2 cables operation. The foward throttle cable should extend much more then the reverse cable will when you try reverse fullout. If the reverse cable is extending more than the forward cable is your problem is within the cables. If they work properly check your linkages at the powerhead for improper adjustment.<br /><br />Martin.

Howdy, Zed.<br /><br />Welcome to iboats. :) <br /><br />The problem is more likely a dropped cylinder or restricted fuel supply. Do a search for power loss or no power under load.<br /><br />Good luck. :)
