most fatalities in the world- what animal?

i heard this on the radio a few weeks ago. maybe everyone already knows it. it sure surprised me, i had no idea.<br /><br />what animal is responsible for the most human fatalities in the world? some included in the group are lions, bears, tigers (oh my ), snakes, sharks, scorpions, and even elephants...<br /><br />whadaya think?

I would guess mosquitos, or rats.

I'm going to have to go along with a insect of some kind.<br />Maybe a fly or like above, mosquitos.<br />I know that they carry some bad stuff, west nile for one, plus a whole lot more that are pretty deadly.

I will guess the flea. <br /><br />They carried bubonic plague (on rats) which killed nearly half of the humans on earth in the 14th and 15th century.

sorry for the delay, i took a swig of my AtussinMS(cold meds)- and fell asleep getting in bed i guess this is a latest statistic...<br /><br />i was thinking same as JB... but its the deer ! <br />you know the phrase "deer in headlights"? next comes deer on grill, then car wreck...
