1980 chris craft, chevy350 alpha1 od: This boat has a "Morse" side mount remote controller with a lift button under the handle. The guy I got it from and I had the motor running in his driveway and did a few shift cycles, but I was behind the boat and did not see what he did. Now he is too sick to explain how it works. Do you have to lift the button to shift/thottle, or is the button supposed to release the controller for throttle only? It is very hard to move, and does not "release" when the button is pressed. Does it only work when the engine is running?

Thanks DHPMarine. Is there way to have just the throttle movement without shifting also? I would like to be able to tune up the engine.

Re: Morse control question

It's hard to say without seeing the control, there were several different methods to get to neutral only.
1. button in center of handle pivot. From neutral, press button and move shifter for throttle only.
2. From neutral pull handle out from the control and move forward for throttle only.
3. Seperate button you pull out to move handle for throttle only.

The lift button under the handle is just a safety to keep it in neutral untill you want it in forward or reverse.
