More Speed

I have a 17' bowrider with a 130hp Mercruiser 3.0L 4cyl. This boat will top out at around 45mph regardless of prop. WOT is about 4800 with the stock 19 pitch. I'd like to get the RPM back up with a 21 or 23 pitch for more top speed. Would I add more carburation....nitrous?

I just read a actical? in this months Boating dealing with add on Nitrous, but my thoughts are if you want more speed save your $$ and sell the boat you have and buy a faster boat. Or you could rebuild the motor and add the needed marine parts to increase the HP. but that's going to cost you also.<br /><br />Bottom line for safe, fun and cost and boat built for speed is you best bet.

No doubt. If you want more power you should forget about 'easy' solutions and aim for something that was born with whatever performance you want.<br /><br />Going to sea in a boat combines very bad with engine experiments.
