ramp stories...fun fun!
I wish I'd of had my vid camera but it was in the boat already when all this went down
yesterday (a weekeday) at the lake mead callville ramp...you would think it would be just us...1pm about...and NOPE loaded dock and such....
so we get ready ...sitting waiting for the people loading thier boats in to finish...then some dude with an empty trailer passes me to load up....ok no biggie....he's in the wrong .....but whatever...
theres 3 lanes available...one side has a guy with these wierd little 10 ft boats and 40hp motors...he's stacking em on some custom double high trailer! cool! thats taking him awhile...so 2 lanes available now.....one has a jetskier dude letting out skis...ok....so the dude that cut past us...goes along the dockside lane...right ......then some jetskier jumped in behind him at the dock...they guy had to get out and ask the skier to move down the dock...jeez...
so I pull closer towards the ramp....waiting...theres a bunch of jet skiers....a couple boats...well the yahoo that cut past us...his wife is putting thier boat towards the trailer...when the other yahoo that was sitting at the dock in his boat decides to turn his boat around right in front of the guy trying to trailer up....
well that dufas almost chops up the dudes trailer....then when he sees he's gonna almost hit it he corrects and goes straight along shore...right towards 2 other people standing in 5 foot of murky water...no you shouldnt be in the water this deep at the freakin dock area...(there was a lane closed and they had a big tractor in the water...these were 2 of the construction workers cooling off) anyways...so he about chops them to bits then heads out....the dude with the wife trying to get ot to the trailer finally manages to get it loaded...ok...
that guy at the dock going out should have waited...the other guy with the trailer should have waited his turn too...karma!.....
so finally most of these people clear out....our turn right? wrong....a couple more jetskiers come in right then and go RIGHT WHERE my trailer is going....so we get out and ask them to nudge thier skis towards the end of the dock so we have room to lanuch...we need about 30 feet as out boat is 23ft long etc....so they move....Im backing up....another jetskier cuts in behind us...ok
so this is just stupid....so I stop and pull fwd...by this time the guy with 2 little boats stacked has his trailer loaded and pulls out of the left most lane....so I get it in on that side and get her ini the water...finallY! we shove our boat to the end of the dock AWAY from the shore loading in out area.......
I dont ever want to be the idiot taking cel calls and lolly gagging with my bimini at the dock loading area....its all ready to roll when we load out...or in for that sake.
ps needless to say ...by the time I got my truck parked and back to teh dock...no one was at the dock but us....
if we'd have came 15 minutes later....we would have been spared all these ramp antics lol
