I just got my 2012 Lowe 1650 SC all weld aluminum bass boat. Weight 1,000lbs with motor, batteries, fuel seats, troll motor etc. <y brand new 2012 9.9 Pro Kicker was able to achieve 7.5 blipping 8mph briefly with two 225lb people and one mph more with just me. I must have a 10hp serial number or I would just buy a 25-50hp motor. I realize it will probably never plane which I can live with I guess. I have been told the 9.9 and 15hp or at least the older ones are just a different carb and perhaps exhaust scavanging does anyone know how or where I can send this to get 15hp or more. I will consider other options such as milling the head or other also but nothing extreme just a 20% bump.

Also looking at prop ideas also I would like to achieve 10-11mph or whatever I can achieve at this point anything is better than 7.5 even 9 sounds good right now. If I can in fact get 15hp they say that is good for a 15% real world increase that is 8.91mph and hopefully with a 3 bladed SS prop with the right pitch and extra power I can hit 10.5 I am serious so please do not tell me to get a bigger motor I am looking for help. Will the motor run .5mph or 1mph faster when it breaks in?

Thank You, Terry

It would probbly be best to use it as it is do to any warrenty on the motor will be voided if any mods are made to it. It might do better after a full brakein but that is ? and not a sure thing. The size of the boat more drag restance than a smaller one and will slow you down as it is pushing more water and can not get on plane as it should. Changing the prop to a lower pitch should help[ but it will not get the speed, I belive, that you want. Worth a try if you can find one to try out before buying one. You might want to look into a prop by Piranha as they have interchangeable blades that the pitch can be changed on very easly. JMO
