ok here it is.... sunset mebbe a bit later...early dusk..... and we wanted to take a cruise after sitting and fishing etc for about an hour...so we leave the fishing area and head up to some islands in Lake Mead...I know the area WELL...day and night many times Ive been in this particular area...
anyways.........
well there's 2 islands very close to each other...its about 75 feet of width between the islands...the water is about 60 feet deep ..... well I wanted to thread the needle per say...shoot through at about 25 or 30 (prob not the most safe thing to do now that I thiink about it... but I am very vigilant about traffic and people in the water etc)
....well I get closer....and I can see there's something at the narrow point, on the shores edge...so we slow down...get a bit closer...it's a Sea Dooer with one of those stand up jobs....
ok by now Im down to below planing speed, and yes we have our nav lights on......and Im about 100 feet from the small opening..... what does the dumb person do...they start to manually SWIM the jetski ...across the tight opening...right where I am coming to!!!!!!!....then they STOP in the middle of this narrow channel....and just sit there... Im thinking WHAT THE HECK is this idiot doing!!!! if I HADNT seen em...they would have been DEAD! 3200 lbs of boat, people and gear and a chopper prop in the rear to finish em off for sure.....
ok so they have a DEATH WISH perhaps.
..great! I wont be part of it so I turn around at about 50 feet from the opening....they then continued to swim it across to the other side....in the mean time we are all looking back at them watching closely...we were within earshot easy....oh and I had another boater following us....we all seen this....
now either this dummy was in need of help and had no tongue and thier arms were useless?....or they were dumb as dirt (more likely of the choices)....either way they didnt give us any waves...nothing like they were in trouble....... and being it was about 1/4 mile from the main harbor marina...there's plenty of traffic in the area in case they DO NEED HELP...and the DOW makes regular runs out of there etc etc
anyways........ later we DID see a jet ski being towed in, not sure if it was the same one... but it prob was.......wow what a DUMB way to flag down help...lets get RAN OVER! (if thats what they were attempting) a stupid human trick if I ever seen one...all they had to do was wave us down and we would have gladly towed em in assisted etc.....
ONE MORE MINOR INCIDENT ok not to pick on jet skiers..:redface:..but.....we were going to an island cove, for some cover from the 40 knot winds and 3 ft chop....my brother in law and his boat are already in the cove....there's a couple jet skiers in the cover too....( my BIL mentioned later that they were smoking some wacky tabbaco )
ok all that aside....... as were more into the cove......... the one comes flying in front of us in his jet ski...doing donuts and stupid stuff directly in our path.....25 feet in front on one of his circles....
we were actually just coming into the cover to communicate some info to the BIL and sister, that the guests we were all expecting, were close to the dock, ready for pickup, and that we would be heading in for some lunch etc at the marina, and wanted them to come on out of the water and follow...(My BIL was in the water and not near his radio)
anyways...I dont get the way some of these people are with watercraft...lets make a ton of wakes and cut people off right there inshore where many people are beached or coming in.........lets be unsafe and stupid....jeez it's like a couple 14 years olds on a joyride ...heck most 14 years are prob smarter then these bozos....
