Have 1989 26 ft Sea Ray and noticed last year before I put it in the spring some light blistering in the gel coat below the water line only around the steps. Apr. 24 blisters in total about the size of a nickel. It has not gotten worse when I pulled this fall that I can tell. I'm incline to monitor and ignore after reading all of the threads on it here. I can accept it from a cosmetic stand point. Am I being foolish?

thats water getting behind the gelcoat. you need to find the reason and cure it. it is only going to get worse.

Dorcott, I am surprized that you did get blisters. I had thought SeaRay boats of that vintage had vinylester resin as final coat. Vinylester is blister proof.

The best thing to do is to have the bottom paint removed, the blisters repaired and the bottom coated with an epoxy barrier coat. Then paint with ablative bottom paint to reduce buildup.
