I need a request if anyone owns a late model Monterey 214FS. Boat LOA = 20' and I need to confirm the boat height while on trailer? For some reason folks who own this boat thinks its 21'. I assume their counting the swim platform. My numbers are actual from monterey's website. The owner of a 214FS gave me a height number but I just need another boat owner to confirm the height? If the height is less than 7', I could be a new owner of a 214FS by weeks end!! Please help.

EDIT: Boat is out of state so I just can't walk over and measure myself. Just don't want to go all that way and find out the owner didn't measure correctly. Monterey lists the bridge clearance for the boat at 4'9". I figure it sits 2' on trailer? I don't own a boat so I can't guess at these kind of measurement. Anyone own a 20' please chime in.

This depends on the trailer, bunk trailers typically sit a little lower. I doubt that this boat is over 7 feet tall though unless it has a wakeboard rack on it. Make sure you confirm length and width as well if you are trying to fit this into a structure. Other than that, hope it works out and enjoy.

This boat has a 8'6" beam. Is that the widest part of the boat? I assume it's wider than the trailer as well? I just want to make sure it fits in my garage. I think wall to wall my garage is about 9'6" but I want some margin for error while backing in.

The boat sits on tandem trailer bunks.

Is this boat exactly like the current 2008/2009 model on the Monterey website? If so I think the boat looks fantastic. I spent some time on one of these at the boat show here. They are very nice boats.

You need to check you numbers though.

LOA = 21'
LOA w/platform = 22'9"
Beam (widest) = 8'6"
Clearance = 7'5"

It isn't perfectly clear if the clearance number is for bridge clearance or boat on trailer clearance. The size of the number would make me think it is boat on trailer clearance. However, since that number is trailer dependent you need to check it on an actual boat on an actual trailer to be sure.

Is 9'6" your width of the garage or the width of the garage door opening. If the boat has an 8'6' beam then the overall width of the trailer at the widest point is probably right around 9', the edge of the wheel usually sticks out past the edge of the boat. So no 8'6" is probably not the overall width. If you have a standard 8 foot wide garage door it will not fit.

No. The boat is 8'6" width. That means the boat is the full legal trailer width for most states. This means that the wheels cannot be any wider than the boat. The wheels may be out past the chine of the boat but it would be wider up at the rubrail which would be the widest part.

salmonee;i cant tell you about what you have but i can pass this on to you.

my boat is 96" at the beam. SR make a model called a sundancer that is close to the same as mine but is 102" wide.

i saw a fellow at powell with one of these, his being a "89" and mine being a "88". we got to looking and both came fron the same dealership and we had the same trailer right down to the color. his sundance just set out over the fenders not making the trailer any wider than mine

i'll give you the width of my trailer in hopes this can be of help barring you finding your information.

mine is just under 102" to the outside of the fenders. on mine the guide boards
stick out past that making the trailer 105" wide total.
the guide boards could be removed quite quickly how ever.

If the door is wide enough there are a couple of things you can do to lower the boat if necessary.If a tandem trailer you might be able to remove one set of wheels so it sits lower on one axle or let air out of the tires.You may be able to lower the bunks.If only the windshield is too high you might unhook and lower the tongue and push it in by hand or pull it in with a come along.

Looks the same to me. However the length seem different in the owner's manual. The owner says that the manual is a mistake and that the boat is really 21', like listed on their website.

I've never pushed a boat before. I have a 13yrd old. If I lower the tongue all the way down. Is it easily pushable with the two of us. The boat dry is 3500lb. Is "come along" the official name. What is that?

I called a dealer today on a new 214fs and it looks like the boat should barely fit with about 1" to spare with the tongue at ~18". I only gain about 1" by lowering the tongue all the way down. The windshield is the highest point. The bridge clearance given at monterey's website must refer to a boat with a wake tower for a 7'5" height. Worst case, I can deflate the tire push it in and inflate the tire afterwards. Inside, i have 12' to work with.

It looks like this hull design was introduced in 2005. It also looks like the boat has been basically unchanged since then. What years is the one you are looking at? I would guess that the boat is indeed the same as those currently offered. Again, it looks like an excellent boat.

if it does not have one, you will need one of these. you should have 300-350 lbs of tongue weight, so it is going to be heavy. but on pavement they trailer is pushable.

i usually back mine in with the car as far as i can, then push it. also installing a hitch on the front of the tow vehicle, makes tight fits much easier. you can either get a receiver for the front, or do as i have always done.

If you can you might want to make your door bigger and not with the boat! Just something to think about. I have 2 10x10 doors on my garage and wish I had 12'x12's. My boat fits ok I just have to be careful backing it in. :)
