After looking at numerous boats, both in person and on the internet, I believ my family has landed on a 195 Monterey bowrider (New). I am aware of the JD power report, but after exhaustive searching I could find very little negative DATA on these boats (I have searched this site as well as trailerboats.com, usboats.com, boatered.com, and several others, if you have more please send them my way). The features of the 19 footer exceed that of the Crownline, and at a greatly reduced price. During my recent education I have learned more on hull filling techniques, and understand why the Monterey is heavier (400 lbs.) but other than that I can find very little difference. A side by side comparison on Lake even showed that the Monterey had a nicer finish as well as more of the standard features which we wanted. The hadling was a little havier than the Crownline, but not much. If you can contribute any more to this decision I would love to hear from you. <br /><br />The engine, well, that's another story and perhaps another post.
