Does anyone have any experience on this lake? Is there good anchoring? Good fishing? I know its a little small for a 30 foot boat but I thought it would be a good place to get it out and practice for a rookie. The boat launch looks good. It's hard to find a decent boat launch for a boat this big.

To answer your question, I have never boated on the river. I did not think it was even possible. Why not take her to Belleville, lake Ontario or Stoco lake?

Sorry, I did not read your post correctly. You asked about the lake and not the river. Disregard my meanderings, lol

Stoco is even smaller and yes, I believe the river has dams in it. I am new to boating and just looking for a small place where the wind and chop wont get too high. Want to practice anchoring, docking and maneuvering. Why would I get into trouble? I'm not looking to burn fuel and run up and down it. Just putt around and basically use it as a floating cottage for a night or two. Some fishing in the dinghy.

I would think the Trent Severn would be the place I would go. You can try to maneuver the boat up to a marker like its a dock. Its sheltered with out much wind and there are places to dock for the night. I found folks at the locks are very helpful, however I was on the Rideau canal but likely the same idea.

It sounds like you have some fun days and nights ahead no matter where you boat. I've spent some time in Peterborough watching the boats come and go. Its a great way to spend the afternoon when your killing time
