modify 9.9 mercury

Can I modify my 2001 9.9 mercury 4 stroke from a tiller drive to a steering wheel and throttle drive.It looks like it has a plate to adapt it but i'm not sure.Any suggestions?

You can do it but if you want to make it a full remote control model it will be expensive to convert. If you keep it as a rope start that will help keet the cost of the conversion down.

Im dead set against adding steering to a small motor.It just takes up space in a boat that probably needs all it can get.You are adding weight to a package that needs as little weight as possible.You are adding unecessary complication,expense,and maintenance to your boat.<br /> Take that money and get something useful.Fishfinder,trolling motor with maximizer,GPS,Live well,bigger boat,bigger motor, Blah Blah. Something that will really make your boating experience enjoyable. Happy shopping.
