Re: model 707HE chrysler

Points are only signal to the CD box. However, they still must be clean and gapped properly. point gap is .014. Improper gap will result in incorrect timing but should not affect spark unless they are not opening or closing at all. They must be clean enough to pass 12 volts or no spark will be signaled

First check that the CD box has power going to it from BOTH the red wire on the engine and the blue wire at the ignition switch. Red wire is CONSTANT 12 volts to charge the capacitors--even when the engine is not running. Blue wire powers the electronics circuits. If it has power from both sources, then the CD box is probably bad. Substitute a known good one if you have it otherwise try salvaging one from a blown junker engine. Last choice would be to buy a new one.

As usual, check all wiring and grounds before deciding upon a new CD box. Be certain that the two black ground wire(s) from the distributor mount connect to the distributor body and also the neg coil terminal.

The points need to be cleaned and gapped properly. .014 is correct for your setup. Good luck...
