MK Co-Pilot ?

Went to Cabelas today and bought a MK co-pilot for my Riptide Power Drive. Luckily enough I had a Gift certificate and coupon which helped sponge some of the expense.

Anyhow, on my way home I was thinking of all the fun the Co-Pilot addition would provide me until I started pondering "WHAT IF" someone was fishing next to me with their Co Pilot and we began to get our signals crossed? My question is actually two parts: 1. Are there more than one signal frequency (or whatever you call it) MK uses in their co-pilots ? 2. How far away is the signal between the transmitter and receiver effective ?

Helpful thoughts appreciated!
Kevin

Re: MK Co-Pilot ?

Kevin.....I believe there are several different channels that they run on....

A couple of my buddy's have them and there specialty is too pull up to your boat...Kick theres off and hang out with you....

When there ready to go they drive there boats back to pick them up.....lol.....Very cool feature....Just wish they were a little cheaper so I could afford one........

Re: MK Co-Pilot ?

PAkev,
I have an AP-65 almost 3 years old and I'm speaking from "old" experience. Maybe they've changed a few things? Each remote has to be set up specific to your unit. There is a "learn" sequence as MK calls it. While holding one or two of the buttons on each remote, you press a button on the co-pilot receiver until you hear a beep. You can use up to 10 remotes with your Co-Pilot. I've never actually tried to see how far away it will work but probably as far away as your auto's key-less remote.
Have you read your owners manual?
I've fished beside at least one other boater that was using the Co-Pilot, no interference.
