I have a 1981 75 hp rude with electric choke on the key. I don’t know the mod or ser #. I would like to know were the mixture screws normally are on rudes. I have looked all over the carbs. I have found what looks like drain for the bowl, idle linkage, big brass screw on top port side ( looks fixed) and a smaller screw with flat rectangular metal washer on top front starboard side. Nothing with a spring under it. I was expecting high and low adjustment screws like my chain saw and weed eater. The motor runs fine at idle but bogs down under load. If I really baby it I can plain and reach 5,500 rpms or more. I try not to go over 5000 rpms. My boat is a 1991 tracker deep V17. It is aluminum. No clue on the weight. After running it all ay last weak end it started to run a little beater. I noticed it was hotter and more humid out. I have not hade the boat long and I am new to TC-W motors.

Thanks in advance to all responses. :)

You don't have an adjustable high speed needle. The Idle mixture screw should be directly above the carb air inlet bore.....its countersunk

I have ordered a service manual. Is there something I can look for or try? Will a lean high mixture give me the symptoms I have described. If so maybe the jets are starting to be restricted. Is this a logical approach?

do a idle mixture adjustment on each carb and back the needle out 1/4 more than the sweet spot. If that doesn't help, do a link/synch adjustment. If still not right, go through the carbs...

Were is the idle mixture screw? What am I looking for? I am use to a screw with a spring behind it. I don’t see one.
