I have a 1974 mercury 1150 inline six and was wondering how many turns the idle mixture screw setting should be to set at?What do you set youres at?Should the three be set all the same?

Re: mixture screw setting

i610288 - The manual calls for the carbs to be set 1-1/2 turns CCW from lightly seated position. The motor should start on this setting. Then warm up the motor in the water, put it into forward and see how it runs. If it idles OK and will accelerate, your done. If it will not idle well, turn the screws (top carb first-mid carb-bottom carb last) until it idles well, again in forward gear. Try to accelerate. if it will not accelerate, mixture it too lean. Open the top carb 1/8 turn and try it again. Then open mid carb 1/8 turn and try it. Repeat for bottom carb. If it still doesn't accelerate, repeat. Object is to get a reasonable idle (it will run on the rich side of optimum) and have smooth acceleration.
