Is Mercury premium oil compatible with Evenrude RAM (the synthetic stuff)?

Last year I was running really low and the only purchase option I had at the marina was Mercury premium TCW3. I normally run Evenrude RAM oil, but didn't have any in the boat with me.

I plan on going back to Evenrude's synthetic stuff after the oil it runs low again. Since there will still be some Mercury oil in there, will blending oil cause any problems? The engine is a 1999 225 Ficht if it matters.

Fishalot

I have run both in my merc with no adverse effects. I would bet OEM's say different, but theirs is TCW3. I think you will be OK for this one occasion...........

I wouldn't advise using Mercury Premium 2-stoke oil in a direct injection engine. Both Mercury and Bombardier have oils specifically made for DFI because conventional 2 stroke oils are not adequate to properly protect these types of engines. DFI engines, I believe, experience higher temps in the powerhead. The money you save in oil may end up costing you much more in engine repair.
