I have scavenged about the last pieces I can from my remaining reels. I love this reel and sure would like to find some parts.

I love mine too but unfortunately it has developed an obnoxious squeak in it that I can't seem to get rid of. I've taken it apart and greased everything I could find. (Could that be the problem?) It's still squeak, squeak, squeak,...
Any suggestions?

------------------
Lately it occurs to me
What a long strange trip it's been...

Hey BigMike fish often pick up on sounds and vibrations coming from reels traveling down the line through the lure. Some sounds like rattling of curtain lures fish like but just like humans fish don't like curtain sounds it could be that fish just don't like the squeak coming from your reel or possibly that and other things surprisingly fish can be extremly picky, or so it seems these days.

------------------
9((~< Canuck friends of fisherman everywhere!!

Big Mike, did you try switching the handle to the other side of the reel? See if that makes a difference.

I don't think the Mitchell 308 is convertable (left hand to right hand) I had an early model Lefty number 309. I agree... one of the best reels made.

You're probably right. My friend is a lefty and reels righty, also throws the frisbee that way. Strange. I'll have to pull it out of its safe hiding place and check it out.

The little line guide on the bail makes squeeks on my 408 sometimes. Cal

Re: Mitchell 308's

A long time ago when I fished that same reel I was able to find some replacement parts for my 308 at Midwest Rod and Reel, I believe they are out in Huntley ? I know what you mean that was my favorite ultra light too! Good Luck. T-290

Re: Mitchell 308's

Amazing as it may seem I found one in pristine condition at the Sandwich, IL antique fair. Everywhere yoo look there are old Plueger level winds and fly reels. Then out of nowhere I spotted it on a table way in the back. I think I actually said "Woo Hoo". The guy said he has one on e-Bay new in the box for $35.00. May be worth checking out.
