Hi All.
I'm redoing my boat and taking a serious look at my trailer too. The boat rests on the metal trailer channel....I'm thinking there's supposed to be a roller here? You can see where I'm getting blue trailer paint on the bottom of the boat.

It's also a major pita to load. Very embarrasing if the wind is blowing. I'm thinking of welding some guide on's in the very rear out of 5/8 rod and PVC. How many inches from the rub rail should I make them? One inch?

yes...you definitely need either a roller or another set of bunks near the front for the boat to sit on

I would say raise the rear rollers a little and add a set of rollers on each side up front instead of the keel roller. It would make it a lot easier to load.

Install a proper winch post on so the winch can be properly placed. Right now the bow eye on the boat is above the bow stop. If you need to stop in a hurry the boat can rise over the post and land in the back window of your car or in the bed of your pickup. Replace the rope with a strap and add a safety chain. If I get some time today I'll post a picture of what happens with an improperly secured boat.

i misssed the bow stop. looks like someone turn it around as the trailer is not long enough. all the reason to redo with longer bunks. and move the boat back along with the axle. the more i look at it, i would consider a used trailer.

BASSBOY1,
How would you install side rollers on the front. I'm picturing it in my mind and I think I might like that kind of set up.

rick, look at the ez loader style roller trailers, they have front side rollers. it would take some welding of brackets.

Hey! The boat looks like an old OWENS. I had one very similar to it. Put old Caddy taillights on the back of the fins.
