Take the key switch out and look around the base of it and it could say for example 1A, 2E, 3B,...look carefully and you will find it.. You can only buy the key at the Merc dealer.

How about towing the boat to the dealers that way you could try some until you find the one that works. I think my local dealer would go along with that. They have a real decent parts man.

I needed a key a few days ago for a used controller, so I took the controls apart and got the number off the tag on the ignition switch #133. went to the local dealer.....Whalla! they had new keys on hand of every number imaginable, and I walked out spending $3.12. or, you could drag the boat to your nearest dealer and try keys to your hearts content.

okay so finnally today I took my quicksilver controlls apart and found 3 sets of numbers inside. 2336, 85892, and 22. The number that said 22 had a square over the first digit 2 and then also had xk stamped after the number. Which would it be? I am assuming 22?

The number stamped on my keys were a number and then a letter like 2D or 2A. The ones I bought from the dealer were stamped the same way. Your 2 sounds right but I wonder if there is supposed to be a letter that goes with the numbers. A dealer might be able to help you narrow it down.

Okay I finally made it to the dealer and found the key. He had about 13 of them and just tried them all out untill one fit.
