I just went to buy a spare for my trailer, and I can't find the same size tire. My trailer has 185/80-13, and the closest I could find was 175/80-13. Is this close enough, especially for a spare?<br /><br />Thanks!
I agree with JB. You really wouldn't want to go cross country with mismatched tires, throws the angle off on the trailer, makes both tires get hotter, and it will be harder to tow.
Going smaller in size you run the risk of being "under-tired" for the load. Tires have a load rating on the sidewall. If the loaded trailer is very close to that tires load limit, using a brand new tire one size smaller means it may be overloaded and not last 10 miles when you need it most.
