Minnesota Lakes... please melt!

Hey all (those that apply and those that don't)!

I picked up my first boat this year ('72 V-156) and I'm obviously anxious for the weather to warm up a bit. I've got some faith that this year is going to be a warmer year than last year. :)

So my question is this... what's the earliest you have been on local lakes in the Twin Cities area (or anywhere close)? While I'm a bit of a novice boater I have experience launching/retrieving friends boats along with driving. Nevertheless since I'll be new to this boat I'd like to get out before the summer rush to do some preliminary tests with launching so I'm not in any ones way too much later this summer. Obviously if it's cold it might not be a good idea but just curious what some of you might brave to get a taste of the lakes!

Thanks!

I'll go for that wish also, since Lake of the Woods is in Minnesota also.
