Minn Kota V2 Powerdrive 40 lb question

As part of winter maintenance I took the prop off the trolling motor and removed a gob of fishing line and what looked like black plastic along with it. I am just wondering if there is a plastic or nylon washer that got shredded, of if it is just plastic picked up from fishing. It is hard to tell from the parts diagram if there is something supposed to be there or not. The only other things I took off was the nut, the flat washer, and the pin... is there another removable part?

From the looks of things, I should be checking for fishing line more often.

where the shaft goes into the motor is a seal ..standard auto lip seal ...these are usually black....have you pulled it out ? If not remember never to run it out of water it burns up the shaft seal and to put some auto stop leak on it which softens and expands the seal

I picked up someones line in mine this summer. So much line the motor would not turn. When I cleaned it out I too found what I thought was a plastic washer but it turned out to be melted mono. The seal is black but also has a stainless boss it fits in. I'm thinking your good to go. Best of luck. Rick.

I don't think anything was pulled out fucawi - the outer part around the shaft was metal but doesn't look damaged or pulled out. Thanks for the info Rick - sounds like its what happened to me. I just don't want to burn out this trolling motor as this was its first season.
