Minn Kota Mag 18 W

Anyone have any info on this model? In particular repair/User manuals.

I bought one at a yard sale. The motor works fine as do the speed controls, but the steering cables are shot. I could use a diagram of how they are routed and maybe part numbers to replace them.

Why not try Minnkota first. There aren't many places on line that do trolling motor repair, much less older ones. Parts for these units are generally proprietary so they would likewise be tough to find on line. Minnkota would also be the best source for diagrams.

Silvertip, Been there, done that! They were of little help. I sent an email asking for manuals, etc. I received an email back from them stating the motor was obsolete ( I had already figured that). I have found one guy online who says he has the cables and I am waiting for them to ship. Since this board seems to be the premier source of information, I was just hoping someone may have had one of these and had a manual / diagram of how to route the cables.

I am sure with enough trial and error and error and error, I will be able to figure it out.

Check on E-bay for the manual as well as a "parts motor". Worth a try. Those old motors were battery eaters. I hope you are not spending a bunch of money on it.

Naa I bought it for 20.00 and the cables were 16 for the set. I figure that will be the end. Just wanted something to get me through this season, I am going to convert the boat this winter and will buy a new troller for it. (Pictures to follow)

I have been on Ebay looking but no luck so far since I don't know the year it was made. I may just "Engineer" a handle for it and be done with it since it does not look promising to find any info on it.
