The oil in my power trim resevoir is milky, any suggestions on the problem? if there is one. The trim works fine, my trim gauge doesnt work but the unit will trim in and out. I have a 95 Mercruiser 3.0 lx

Well the problem is not Milk!

You either filled the boat with water and it got into the trim pump reservoir or you have a leak in a trim cyl.

LOL That was a good one. I was going to dip some cookies in it....lol It is a greyish liquid, it looks like oil and water mixture like it does in a blown motor.

Yeah,

that would be about right....the trim "fluid" could be ATF, or regular motor oil....mix a little water in there and it'll turn all sorts of colors.......

You probably need to rebuild 1 or both trim cyls.....

A few years back I had a similar issue on my 7.4l BIII. I removed the oil from the resevoir, refilled with clean, and cycled it through a few times. After running a couple cycles it was clear and stayed that way the next couple seasons. Might be worth a shot.
