OK I have a type R1.98 Mercruiser Stern Drive. I went to change the lube today and found the lube milky. It did not seem to be to bad. This boat has been sitting for about a year. Can anyone offer some info on this problem? Should i just run the boat a couple of times and change again to see if the problem still there? Should i do something now? Help!!!!

Rob,
Condensation is possible case here.
I would change the oil and filter and run the boat for a while. Check oil by pulling dipstick out after the first 10-20 minutes of running the boat. If you still have creamy substance on your dipstick then you have a problem.
If oil is clean - enjoy :)

Best of luck
Lenny

Are you referring to the engine or the outdrive?

Walt

Has it been milky before? Is this the first time you have changed it?

If it was me, I would pressure test the seals in the lower unit--there's a kit you can buy or your local marine mechanic can do this. Replace any that are bad.

Water is getting in somplace.
