I was just skipping around youtube getting antzy about getting back on the water. I came across a clip where a guy installed a Mikuni 3 outlet fuel pump (DF 52-92), he said in the clip that now each carb has it's own fuel supply. It just sounded so strong & crisp with throttle response. Is this due to the fuel pump? What are the benefits? It's only $24.99, would it be worth it to get this? The Flow rating on it is 35 Liters/hour. What do you guy's think? Thanks, Maxx

I don't know if there are really any benefits.

I always recommend a small filter AFTER the fuel pump to catch any crud that might exit the pump.

SO, on the negative side, if a piece of crud exits the pump and you do not have a filter after it, it will probably only clog one carb needle causing one cylinder to run lean. So, you would need three filters AFTER the pump.

Re: Mikuni 3 outlet fuel pump

Well the engine sucks the gas out of the carb the pump just gets it to the carb so Im guessing not because of the pump. I seen a clip on you tube, if its the same one you saw, the guy said top cyl was leaning out at wot causing overheating. He also said it was a common problem on those motors which i have NEVER heard from anyone else. Mabye his stock pump or diaphragm was going bad and it didnt have enough strength to pump all the way to the top carb??? Seems like a cool idea but if the carbs and hoses are clean and the fuel pump and diaphragm are good its unnecessary in my opinion.

Ya, I guess you guy's are right. I do have a filter inline after the pump now, thanks for the reminder, I need to change it in the spring, I like to replace all that kind of stuff in the spring to have a fresh start. I guess I'll just keep it in mind if my pump ever fails & for $24.99 might give it a try anyway.

Don't waste the $$$.Just more stuff to go bad.Make sure the hoses are good and the compression is good.Low comp makes the pump perform poorly.J
